Choose the Right Door Lock for Your Security

A study shows that the intruder does not take longer than 60 seconds to gain entry. So its better to use the best locks available in the market so that they are not able to break in. Here are a few of the best ones and how they are used.

Key In Knob Locks

The least protection is offered by the “key in knob” locks. Most of these locks have a simple beveled spring latch that can be opened easily even by inserting a credit card between door and the frame. With the better key knob locks this is prevented by including a separate tongue.

Deadbolt Locks

With these deadbolts you can add more security without replacing the existing key in knob lockset. If you have a single cylinder deadbolt it will open with a key from the outside and will have a knob to open it from the inside. If you need key on both sides then double model is required.

Vertical Deadbolt Locks

These vertical deadbolt locks make it impossible for the intruder to enter. A  pry bar that is forced between the door and frame is about the only way to enter with one of the locks in place.

Chain Locks

Chain locks are also good. They are not easy to open and takes time so that you can see someone before they can enter.

Keyless Locks

With keyless locks, you will have no keys. No more hiding your keys. Easy protection!

Sliding Bar Locks

Sliding bar locks are not very attractive, but are really protective. These locks are highly jimmy-resistant. They make a clanking noise when opened. They are mounted in the center. These are not very often used because of their design. These are used for extra security.
